How SUSCO has Helped Clients with Grants & Claims Management

Road Home:

Inspection Management Software for the Road Home program after hurricane Katrina. Every inspection and estimate conducted for the Road Home program was processed using this software. This software was used by thousands of adjusters to track inspections, and estimate damages for grant awards.

Hurricane Rita:

Grants Management Software for Texas HAP following hurricane Rita. This software tracked more than just the inspections: It also handled the entire grants management process from initial loss notice, to duplication of benefits. Finally, it tracked the actual building process of the repairs or replacements.

Deepwater Horizon:

Initial Loss Notices/Payments software to manage the initial loss notices and payments for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. This software was grown rapidly, as the response to the spill necessitated rapid changes in grant policy. It also extended to tracking offshoot grants programs such as the VOO (Vessels of Opportunity) program to provide work to boat captains affected by the fishing moratorium.

Hurricane Sandy:

Grants Management: In 2013 developed software to manage the grants management program for Hurricane Sandy.

Full Claims Management system:

For a major insurance adjusting firm. Prior to its development, this firm had average yearly revenues of 20 million. In the years immediately after its move to production, they began averaging 40 million per year. Over the next 10 years, they steadily grew in yearly revenue, reaching a yearly average of 200 million. Prior to its release, they had to scale internal clerical staff linearly based on the number of adjusters in the field. It was not uncommon to have 100 clerical staff supporting 200 adjusters. After the software’s release, they rarely had to bring on any clerical staff. Even when over 1000 adjusters were in the field, internal staff growth was minimal.”

Expense Tracking

Software solution to track expenses for an insurance adjusting firm that allowed adjusters to enter weekly expenses, such as lodging and mileage, and supporting documentation. This interfaced directly with the firm’s accounting and payroll software to avoid the withholding of payroll and income taxes for the expenses incurred. This saved the company over a hundred thousand dollars in payroll taxes in the first month alone and saved the adjusters from having to manually claim these expenses on their own taxes at the end of the year.
